KymarFye....

My only contention with using TA for looking too far ahead, is that while it can certainly give a clear picture of the
emotional highs and lows of investors, how could it possibly anticipate the future....since the reactions of investors are based on events, such as earnings, news, world events, etc...
While I am not versed in Dow theory, I wonder how they could attempt to look that far into the future with any accurate results.....
What little I have learned so far regarding market history
reinforces one of the reasons why I choose to be a speculator rather than an investor......you just never know what the future may bring....much of I what I see regarding the market seems to have more to do with emotion than common sense or fundamentals..

I also don't think it's a matter of forgetting the work before the age of real time data feeds, software and discount brokers....its just progress..
I'm not sure that the astronauts who fly the space shuttle consciously think about the Wright Brothers why they fly....they just fly..

I agree that there are many different TA approaches that are appropriate for different aspects of the market...
As was stated in an earlier post, TA can be best used to narrow the odds as much as possible in your favor...

Just my opinion
