JRI, the monthly historical averages are interesting. I actually maintained them until last year. In the previous 12 years August was the worst month for the SnP. It actually caught me a bit flat-footed last August. Having given it some thought, one must conclude that the nature of traders that go on vacation in a bear market is different than those that go on vacation in a bull market. This puppy is doomed. Edit - However, I'll ask this question over here as well -- If a company provides no guidance as to 3rd quarter earnings, can they warn? Just a View from the Swamp Berney
