CNBC Taps Rossell as Chief Economist

tvinsite.com

CNBC has appointed Marci Rossell as its chief economist, network executives announced today.

In her role at CNBC, Rossell, who has been working with OppenheimerFunds Inc., will cover all aspects of the economy, including the Federal Reserve Bank and major economic indicators.

Rossell, who begins working at CNBC on Sept. 10, will also appear on its Squawk Box franchise, as well as other programs throughout the business day. Rossell replaces Kathleen Hays, who previously reported on the U.S. economy, and is leaving CNBC this week to pursue other opportunities, the network said.

At OppenheimerFunds, Inc., Rossell served as vice president, corporate economist and investment spokesperson, working closely with portfolio managers and research analysts to develop investment themes and ideas for the company’s equity and fixed-income product lines. She also served as spokesperson for the company’s investment strategies and market outlook.

Prior to joining OppenheimerFunds Inc., she was a manager for Deloitte & Touche LLP, where she provided economic consulting and expert testimony for clients. Rossell began her career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas where she provided economic analysis of national and local issues to the bank’s president.
