From MacWEEK Online for June 17, 1997 by John Poultney

Motorola Computer Group yesterday pushed the Mac-clone envelope with a
300-MHz addition to its StarMax line.

The company said its StarMax 5000/300 is the first 300-MHz Mac OS system to hit the shelves. Originally scheduled to ship in May (see 04.14.97, Page 3), the StarMax 5000/300 is based on a 603e PowerPC chip and includes a 40-MHz system bus.

A basic configuration, priced at $2,899, includes 512 Kbytes of Level 2 cache; 32 Mbytes of RAM, expandable to 160 Mbytes; a 16x CD-ROM drive; a 4.3-Gbyte hard drive; and five PCI slots. It also comes standard with built-in Ethernet, an internal Iomega Corp. Zip drive, 4 Mbytes of synchronous graphics RAM and an ATI Technologies Inc. Rage II+ display chip with 4 Mbytes of video RAM.
