OT: Jock, re: AVCI, I remember you saying on SI that AVCI is "the next CSCO". Someone said once, "Whenever you hear that some company Y is `the next X', you can be sure that both X and Y are doomed going forward". Well, that's exactly what happened to both CSCO and AVCI in the last year or so!
A couple of years ago, there was a lot of talk about "finding the next Microsoft". Well, we know what happened to those companies! And Microsoft, even though it didn't blow up like CSCO did, has underperformed the S&P 500 since Jan 1999 (S&P 500 is down about 4.6% from Jan 1, 1999 and MSFT is down about 26%).
So, the next time you think of, or hear about, the "the next <whatever>", please let me know! ;-) |
