If I were in a foreign country holding US treasuries and some other short term highly rated debt what does a 1/2 pt cut in interest rates get me??

I think you are wrong about the economy and wrong about currencies as well -- there may be corrections, but the trend has changed. Glad you've made some money on the Euro -- you best get back in on a correction, IMO.

What you are failing to miss is the rapidity with which things have deteriorated and that there aren't the fundamental underpinnings for a recovery.

It's not just an inventory adjustment. If it were, a number of companies from across industies would not be laying people off and severely retrnching their capex spending.
