I totally agree with you. AMD is responding to Intel's price cuts earlier than expected, and it looks like some of Intel's inventory has already made it's way to the new lower prices as well.

But one interesting observation is that only a few vendors have lowered their prices on the 1.4GHz Pentium 4 chip. The seventh entry on the list goes for $172. Meanwhile, vendors selling the 1.4GHz Athlon manage to stay under $120 for the first 24 entries. My guess is that AMD is already selling 1.4GHz Athlons for $100 a piece (25% below the $133 that the Pentium 4 is rumored to cost), while only select vendors seem to be getting Intel CPUs at lower prices, either through a special deal with Intel, or through the grey market.
