I'd rather own Joe Montanta's than Joe Namath's.

If I were assembling a team I would take Joe Montana or Johnny U over Joe Namath. I was merely suggesting, in a round about way, that one criterion I might use is which of the signed helmets will be worth more at a future date. I'm only suggesting that Joe Namath is the more "historical" figure in that he played a major role in shaping the NFL as we know it today. It wasn't just the superbowl win it was shocking the old school NFL by signing with an AFL team. He received a then record salary to sign with the Jets. Paltry by today’s standards, $427,000 for three years, but it signaled that the AFL would compete with the NFL for players. It was the bidding war for players (IMHO) that drove the decision to merge the two leagues. The superbowl win iced the deal.
