China Telecom denies up PCCW (0008) stake 2001-08-16 15:03 (Infocast News) China Telecom spokesperson was cited as saying that it has no plan to boost its stake in PCCW (0008). It was rumoured this morning that China Telecom, an existing shareholder of PCCW, was to purchase the shares. In the morning session today, PCCW share price shot up by over 10% to hit the half-day high of $2.15, triggering purchase by foreign brokers. The stock pared its gains in the afternoon session. The price is now at $2.05, up $0.13 or by 6.77%. infocastfn.com
