Had a similar experience just now. I went to the site and the toolbar was not as I normally have it, but when I went into Customize, all my settings were there and I only needed to save them again.

Until I did, I was seeing ads everywhere, and everything was running even more horrifically slowly than usual. Most of the bandwidth was getting chewed up with calls to ads.enliven.com. And, as I've noticed on Metacrawler, these are perpetual ads. You can leave the browser on the page for an hour and it's still moving data to display ads. I don't even use Metacrawler anymore for this reason. It slows down everything else I'm doing. And it no longer takes you directly to your search results. Instead, it embeds the links in some INSP link to take you there. Really annoying stuff.

And the phone book stuff there has gotten really bad. The other day, I was looking for a local fish shop (to buy koi for a pond) and when I told it to give me all the ones within 50 miles of KC, it gave me ones that were several hundred miles away. Then when I expanded the search range to hundreds of miles, it returned zero results. Weirdness.

And it's infecting this place. Basically it's called programming without having a clue about the users and how they'll interact with the results of your coding efforts. It's obvious to me that someone who never took DP101 in college is exerting way too much influence over DP issues.
