Press Release May 16,2001 "Alcoa Idles Ferndale, WA smelter as a Result of Agreements with the BPA" The press release states that the power will be sold back to the BPA. Further the release says that in return for selling the power back to the BPA, Alcoa would recieve revenue to compensate a majority of its employees at the plants for their wages and benefits.
