Hence "wide'. Now, of course, most have forgotten the derivation. Presumably they have their equivalent in NY. The kids who work only in arbitrage and derivatives. Maybe you don't. It still seems to be upscale over here. I know several Math PhDs who are putting in a stint with some of the trading companies. FIDO, born within the sound of Bow Bells hence, definitionally, a Cockney.
