Tks. I shutdown the computer last night without backing up registry and no harm apparent when I re-booted this a.m. Also the same sentence comes up (my annoyance). I did however learn that "McAfee Safe and Sound" resides as an icon in "MYCOMPUTER" and is evidently part of the hardware.
Since I am using a Dell 600 MHZ, it was pre-loaded. I changed my security to Norton AntiVirus after updating McAfee went awry. So maybe going back to Dell is the wise decision to rectify this problem.
