but it's another thing entirely to have the volumes listed of each model, and I'm guessing that would probably tell a different story.

I had a chance to swing by Best Buy and CompUSA yesterday, and I was disappointed by what I saw. One had to hunt to even see the AMD models. The ratio in the ads might be favorable to AMD, but once you are in the store, its overwhelmingly Intel offerings.

On a positive note, FWIW, I have been keeping an eye on the offerings at ubid.com. About a month ago, HP Pavillions with 1.0 - 1.1 GHz Athlons were consistently going at $509-$579 range. Now, the same machines are consistently going for just over $600. Perhaps its a small signal of firming demand, perhaps the ubid audience is weighted heavily by college-going crowd.
