To all -
I currently have cable hook-up for online connection. I want to change to DSL. Friday night, I attempted to load DSL software. Before doing so, I unplugged my cable USB. (I have an external CATC USB/Ethernet, which connects to the cable modem).
The DSL installation stopped with the following message -
"Installation Problem- CATC USB/Ethernet Link II The network adaptors listed above has drivers installed but the adaptor is not physically present in your computer. If you wish to physically reinstall the adaptor at this time, exit this program, shut down computer & install adaptor. If you wish to uninstall the drivers click the "fix" button below and follow instr. for removing the driver for this adaptor."
Now, not knowing what the heck I'm doing (g), I hit the "fix" button, thereby, practically crashing my hard-drive.
Somewhere in all of this process, I got an "invalid . . ." message, instructing me to run the set-up program again.
I uninstalled the DSL software, ran the set-up and all is well now. Except, that I'm right back where I started, using a cable modem.
My question is - if I try to install DSL software again, should I leave the cable USB plugged in during that process?
Has anyone experienced this changing from cable to DSL and how did you do it? I don't want to crash my pc.
Thanx. |
