Well, you description was not very good...

The following hardware setup should make sense:

- turn off everything
- plug the DSL Modem to the phone line
- plug your network cable into the DSL Modem
- unplug your Cable modem from the network
- check what kind of network cable you need for the connection of you DSL to you USB-NIC (normal or cross-pin?)
- if you have a hub, you have to do the same check. You can try to use the uplink port to simulate a cross-pin cable
- leave your USB-NIC attached to your USB port
- power all on
- check device manager that the USB-NIC driver works fine
- uninstall all drivers that relate to the cable modem (but keep in mind what devices you delete)
- Check the network settings. At this stage only MS-Client, TCP-IP and the USB-NIC hardware driver should be installed, maybe some dialup-adapter.
- If you made changes, restart windows. Check again in device manager.
- If everything's ok, install your DSL driver. Try to keep the overview and try to identify what exactly you do. Some kind of PPPoverEthernet protokoll should be installed.
- Get the appropriate driver version for your windows version
- Check and read the right portions of the readme files (prior to install).
- If the installation seems to be done, check device manager and network settings for changes.
- If software is ok and it does not work check the cable issue
- take you time and concentrate on what you do to localize the problem, then fix it <g>
