Well it would seems your powers of observation are colored by you need for an idea that somehow fits or supports whatever you are trying to say. As I recall it is reported that Newton conceived the theory of gravity on seeing an apple fall in his orchard. Scientific discovery is mostly about seeing or observing and then relating what one sees. Newton did not discover gravity. Newton conceived that the same force governed the motion of the Moon and the apple. He calculated the force needed to hold the Moon in its orbit, as compared with the force pulling an object to the ground. He also calculated the centripetal force needed to hold a stone in a sling, and the relation between the length of a pendulum and the time of its swing.

He called the force gravity and described the force mathematically.
