Dan, et al,

FWIW, there was no mention of PMs in Barron's this week. However, it may be of interest that Epstein's column was devoted to explaining why the housing market will continue to be strong. This supports his view that we are not heading for a recession.

It may also be of interest that Kaplan updated his comments Friday and argues that the dollar will rise in the near term and gold, along with gold stocks, will fall. He bases his view on increasing short position of commercials for gold and the euro along with related currencies. He doesn't paint a very pretty picture.

The GMI/POG ratio this week::

On 8/16, the Barron's GMI was 314.82, up from the previous week's value of 307.84. With the POG up similarly to
277.45 (8/17), the ratio was up to 1.13

The ratio a year previously was 0.99..

Cheers,
Larry
