Sugar,
Love is a word with too many meanings. Sex (lust) is a far simpler concept. At the core of romance is the physical act. Part of this is the pure physical pleasure. Mixed in, the emotional need to deny death. These are the things that drive us, like hunger, on the physical level.
In our minds we want something more, to communicate, share, learn. We understand the value of commitment, sacrifice, mutual support.
The question I have, after the wreck of my first (18 yr.) marriage, is whether a lasting relationship is more likely if based on mental compatibility rather than gut level physical attraction. If there is only chemistry, I think the result is a foregone conclusion. I want someone that is attractive to me, but I want the real connection to be non-physical.
