The 'response' of claiming to quote someone when instead you are characterizing them is never deserved. If the false claim is spotted and called, it is disreputable on the part of all who do it to pretend that no such event happened, however much personal hatred they feel in their hearts toward the victim of the lie. Or error. You caused me no offense at all, Greg. It's civilized of you to care.
