USW may have made the difference for Q, but didn't Q have to pay GX an awful lot of money as a breakup fee? I don't want to guess on the figure, but my recollection is that the sum was quite large. If so, maybe that cash infusion has made just as great a difference for GX in terms of capital financing as it has for Q in terms of operating cash flow, -- perhaps separating GX from LVLT, WCG, among others. And GX also walked away without the continuing hassle of maintaining a creaky old legacy network amid a maze of state regulations. Just a thought --maybe GX was the "true winner" in the USW Sweepstakes.
