Star Wars has to be an offensive weapon. Right now there are no threats it can defend us against even if it existed. And it can't protect us from terrorists. Besides we already have Aegis and Patriot missiles for theatre warfare. They are imperfect but so will any Star Wars system. So far Star Wars has hit one missile which had a homing beacon on it when they were told exactly where it would be at precicely what time. No great achievement but trumped up as a triumph by the Bushites and a reason to spend 100 billion and drain other basic military programs. This could be the biggest boondoggle in history. A hundred times as expensive as the SGt York system. And think of why they're really doing this. Soft money lobbyists from the defence companies. Not for you or me but for them. Once again, Campaign Finance Reform!
