That sounds like a plan for Lebanonization. We can all see how well that worked. Or is it Cyprusization? Or, perhaps, "The Northern Ireland Model"?
Frankly, this all misses the core point--after 2,000 years of vicious, genocidal Christian/Muslim persecution the Jews wanted a land of refuge, where all Jews could flee if persecuted and endangered. Buber's Israel would not have been such a place because such immigration would be opposed. Anyone who thinks differently is being pollyannish, and playing "let's fantasize" games with the lives of millions.
Those whose people, co-religionists and relatives have not been brutally perceuted in this manner, have no real feel for this, and therefore suggest solutions that they--if placed in the same position--would realize have never worked for their people. |
