I personally don't see how anything X posted on SI could
upset anyone as thoroughly as X seems to upset some people.

Perhaps this is because you have never been the object of personal attack by her. Ask yourself this: just why is it that X, who virtually everybody here knows ONLY by her written words here (I know only one SIer who claims to have met her in person) is the object of such extraordinary divergent and very strongly held views of her.

IME, most people on SI don't have such strongly bitter feelings about another poster unless there is some pretty good reason for it. If there are one or two people who feel that way about a poster, that can be dismissed as just something about those people. Where there are a large number, there is reason to believe that there is some legitimate reason for it.

JMO, of course, but I've been around here a while and watched quite a lot of posting and reacting going on. The only person I know who engendered such strong feelings from so many people was Edwarda; but in her case it was almost all positive. Why do you think it's so different with X?
