Roebear: re: piece about (and probably by) Bernie Sanders.

I think you should view that piece with extreme skepticism, not because it is wrong, but because it contains truth, but truth used for evil purpose.

The piece was posted on Bernie Sanders’ web page. (Sanders, a congressman from Vermont, calls himself an independent but is a socialist, hence indistinguishable from most Democrats.) Anyway, in the piece, there appears this statement: “…the average American today is earning 8% less than in 1977….”

True. But the reason why is key. Lots of reasons can be suggested, but the biggest has to be the crushing level of taxation that the average wage earner faces.

Bernie Sanders and his socialist/Democrat colleagues are at the heart of a process that makes possible this crushing level of taxation. They have a winning game plan, and play it well.

Step One: They define an ideal ---- e.g., from the Sanders web page, “create a non-discriminating society….”.

Step Two: They appoint themselves to the job of realizing the ideal (i.e. of creating a non-discriminating society).

Step Three: they acquire governmental power in the political arena.

Step Four: They use governmental power (in the form of regulation and taxation) to weaken those who are bad, which their ideal defines for them -- i.e., those who stand in the way of realizing the ideal. To stick with the Bernie Sanders example, it would be those who stand in the way of creating a “non-discriminating society.”

However, since discrimination lies at the heart of life, what Bernie Sanders has done is create a weapon that can be used against any successful group in America.

Why is this important?

Go back to basics (Federalist Ten, Calhoun, etc). Words (in a written constitution) don’t put limits on the power of government. What puts limits on the power of government are groups that have power in their own right, and thus have the means to fight back.

In order to have power, non-governmental groups (or lesser alternative gov. groups, e.g. states vis-a-vis the central gov.) HAVE TO discriminate, based on talent, wealth, or affiliation. But this means that every successful group can, in one way or another, be charged with discrimination, and thus stand in need of being “fixed” by government.

Of course, the fix never works. In fact, the fix makes the problem worse. But that’s okay with Bernie Sanders and his colleagues. To create a “non-discriminating society” does NOT engage their passion. Sure, some of them, maybe including Sanders, want it in a vague, feel-good way. But the vaporous notion of a ‘non-discriminating society” does not set them in motion. What sets them in motion is the struggle for power, more power for themselves, which means, in practice, more power for the central government.

Their plan is beautiful. They cause failure, then turn around and argue that government is needed to fix the failure. They have a winning formula, especially now that they have gotten hold of -- and “fixed” -- the schools.

Sanders, given even more power, would ensure that the average working American earns not 8% less than in 1977, but 80%less -- or God knows how much less, plus be more of a slave than he already is. Sanders himself may be innocent, by which I mean: may really believe the rubbish that he spouts -- but who cares. It is me, my family, my region, my people that he has in his crosshairs (if I may conclude on a personal note).
