tc ..

what you say is correct ...
most likely the sensor is indeed out of proper working order ...

but
the problem I have is the reload of the driver making it work ...

so, that is why I suggested a re installation or new installation of the printer cable ...

don't know that I've ever heard of this "exact" difficulty ...

the o/p sensor is the logical one, I agree

btw ...
and off topic from THIS posted problem,
but one which has been discussed in the past ....

this past weekend, we had a pretty good thunderstorm here ...
MUCH thunder/lightning , some sporadic rain/hail ...

from my trips around town today ...
found half a dozen folks who had modem difficulties later Sat, Sun, and today ...

of the five boxes here at my house, only one remained plugged in during the storm ...
my wife's home office CPQ ....

the way I remedied the failure to log on problem she had afterwards, and one which I reccoed to all the folks who still had problems today *(had three of them call and say it fixed theirs, too) ...
I physically removed the modem card
removed the modem from the system id

re installed the card
re installed the driver

worked fine ..
and
that is the third time I've had to do this operation in the past few years ...

the UPS "saves" the system from damage
but
seems to not "cushion" the surge properly ...

hmmmmm
now, I've given myself something more to think about ....
the UPS .....
hmmmmm .....

gggggg
