In the Gulf Stream off the Keys they used the cable and winches for the Jewfish. As I remember 600 pounds was about the largest caught. They'd fish down 400' or more. When they'd get the fish about 1/2 way up the air bladder would expand and the fish would float on up.

They have been on the no catch list for a long time. Very slow growth and reproduction.
