We agree. Probably should say AMD knows how to get down and dirty with prices. Unfortunately they lack any marketing what-so-ever. Management must be blamed but these are are not PR people...

Intel has fought before but "this time" AMD has a few more weapons. A very good notebook chip and a good server chip although the "bag punchers" here will point out that no big OEMs have taken on the AMD server line. Never the less they have a good server chip and the potential is three to apply downward pricing pressure in that sector. One less place Intel can hide high ASPs.

In this market I'm unconvinced that Intels' attempts at maintaining market share, at the extreme expense of low ASPs, is the prudent route. It may be very difficult for them to raise prices once these OEMs get a taste of low cost blood.
