I hear it too. Very faintly though. What I hear loud and clear is the noise from the heinous criminals. Most people have been assuming all along that our system is either putting them away safely someplace or "fixing" them so that they can come back. You know as Lawyer that we are not effectively controlling them. The prison system is a revolving door for people that society does not want. Our social conscience is broken. We can't admit that we can't deal with an element of our population who commit heinous crimes. So, until we learn that there is a new half way house being opened down the street, we pretend everything is ok. Is it getting better? Should we keep going as is? Should we at least try an alternative?
