A statement that someone has said, ie "mentioned," that they have a "distaste" for certain noble nouns is not comment, fair or unfair. It is a statement of something that either happened or didn't.

It didn't.

It was vile and demonizing, and it didn't happen. X simply did not describe herself in that way.

Now, if brees had said that in his opinion X couldn't be a moral relativist or have said things she DID say, and have certain values, that would be a comment. Its fairness could be discussed.

But a statement that she said, ie mentioned, in a self-characterization, a distaste for certain things is judged not by fairness but by truthfulness.

If it is true, it is fair.

Is it true? did X say that?

No.

So purporting that she did is not fair. It is worse than not fair. It a simple untruth.

The only defense is the extrapolation one, which you sensibly eschew.

It is, of course, a made up ugly notion attributed to X herself speaking about herself. Lovely.

All the excuses have been lovely, too.
