MM - OT OT OT all this put/call ratio info is a total joke. The only ratio that has any significance is how business is doing, whether orders have picked up etc. Until hat happens the stcoks will be useless as investment and people won't buy them.

So their prices will decline. Its that simple. This is the worst business climate in lving memory and it is gettting worse by the day. Put/call ratios and estimating the movement downward of teh market becasue too many people are optimisitc as opposed to pessimistic or cathartic sell-offs or any of that other nonsense is a painful waste of energy and raeding time for posts.

All that counts is business. At the moment most companies are cutting back everything in sight as they try to conserve cash. You don't need to go to Harvard Business School to work that out. Any ma and pa store keeper knows how to do it and it is being done all over the industrialized world today and it will get even tougher if business isn't seen to pick up.

Further if business doesnt pick up then companies are going to go bust next year. Ther is just no way that you can have business evaporating like it is and have a big survival rate next year if it continues.

If Mr Greenspan and his pals at the Fed are willing to own up to the awful damage that their absurd obsession with the NAZ has caused and they take off the brakes then perhaps business will start to pick up. If they don't then business will get worse. At this stge you do not need to be a genius to work that out.

As fo today my guess is that eh will say that he doesn't really know if the US economy has bottomed, that it all depends on things arond the World and he doens't know how they will do, and they are ever vigilant about inflation.

We will all be caught like rabbits frozen in the headlights and when the statement comes out the market will take a big tank.

Actually I am beginning to believe that we have another 36 months of this till Nov 04 and then and only then we will get a new administration that will produce a "New Deal" or the equivalent and take concerted action to reflate the World economy. GW imho finds all this business environment very "challenging" and as for the kind of action that is necessary to stop it well imho it is way past Crawford.

Best regards,

L
