| Her relativism is so radical, that any expression of even qualified truth claims in morals draws her disdain. She has repeatedly spoken against the idea that we can know truth, even when expressed in a highly qualified, probabilistic way. Similarly, she has repeatedly spoken against any idea that there are knowable principles of morality, or that we can know in any strict sense what is just (as opposed to what society happens to call just). Finally, as I said, she has spoken repeatedly against human values (which are universal), as opposed to temporary and local values. The upshot of this position is, then, to say that there is no binding morality discoverable, but that it is all a matter of personal feeling and/or arbitrary social constructs. Add to that a disdain for the opposing point of view, and especially distaste for those who hold the opposing point of view, and I am comfortable with saying that she has a distaste for truth, justice, principle, and human values....... |
