Yes, vectorVest does provide a semi-programmed back testing ability. You specify the ranking criteria (or use one the canned selection routines), specify the starting capital, etc.
Then you can work through a time period, usually end of week by end of week, throwing out holdings based on your ranking system or by the provided advisory Buy, Hold, Sell)
This backtesting is a feature you want to have.
We have an informal study group and are working through the various strategies in various time periods. Not much progress yet.
In a non-trending market the results are often boring. So much so that I don't pay too much attention to VV. I do scan a list of stocks that just move from a relative timing of below 1.05 to above 1.10.
