Remember in 1956

Yes. Israel colluded secretly with Great Britain and France, in violation of international law, to attack Egypt and to topple Nasser. To hide the matter from the U.S., Abba Eban was sent to Washington to lie to American officials. He did the same thing in 1967, personally assuring the U.S. that Egypt had attacked first.

Menachem Begin: "The 1967 war was one of choice. We decided to attck him [Nasser]"

Not only did Nasser not attack, he did not want war.

Yitzhak Rabin: "I do not believe Nasser wanted war. The two divisions he sent into Sinai would not have been enough to launch an offensive. He knew it and we knew it."

David Ben-Gurion: "I doubt very much whether Nasser wanted to go to war."

Israeli cabinet member Mordecai Bentov: "Israel's entire story of the danger of extermination was invented of whole cloth and exxagerated after the fact to justify the annexation of new Arab territories."
