Re: The Spitfire (older Duron) can get to 950MHz while at 1.6v, whereas the Morgan (newer Duron) needs to be increased to 1.75v to achieve 900MHz

The roadmaps show Duron to 1.2GHZ. Generally, AMD likes to use one voltage for a given line where it can. 1.75v may be necessary only to get morgan to 1.2 or 1.3GHZ.

It's rather interesting that the copper chips using the new core use less power at a given MHZ, while the Aluminum chips appear to use about the same, but that's likely an artifact resulting from the morgan being speced with a voltage high enough to carry it to 1.2-1.3GHZ, while spitfire was not. Since power goes up at voltage squared, using the "same" power at a given frequency actually indicates a power savings of about 20% - and isn't that what was seen with Thunderbird/Palomino? (which didn't see a voltage increase as large as .15, as I recall)

50 watts at 1.2GHZ shouldn't be a configuration problem for Morgan - given what the boxmakers are now used to accommodating for Athlon.
