| John,, the mkt is in sad shape and it is more sad so many have been hurt. Putting all the blame on the 'financial community' is not really fair. A short time ago many gave up most salary for stock options by preference. Others followed the idea that the mkts have out - performed cash equivilants over time. Their worst luck is the timing,, down when they need it. Lets go to the unions--- more $$ now and away went the defined pensions that caused people to wonder how they could ever save enough w/o the mkts,,, not to forget the companies that could not wait to bail the defined pensions... there is plenty to share the blame,, not least of which is Greenspan,, or Clinton for keeping him on in hopes of helping Gore win,,, One must not forget those putting their money in & keeping it there are not doing so at gun point;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; |
