PolyMedica offices in Florida raided by FBI agents
Dozens of FBI agents carrying search warrants have raided several Florida offices of Woburn-based PolyMedica Corp., the biggest maker of diabetes test kits, Bloomberg Business News has reported.

The company recently acknowledged its Liberty Medical Supply unit, based in Port St. Lucie, Fla., is the subject of a criminal investigation.

"We're planning on going through the night," FBI agent Judy Orwello told Bloomberg. The raids of 10 PolyMedica offices began at 1 p.m., she said.

Trading in shares of PolyMedica was halted shortly before 2 p.m.

Barron's magazine has reported that investigations by the FBI and U.S. Postal Service center around PolyMedica's billing practices and possible mail fraud.

PolyMedica, which had sales of $220 million in fiscal 200 gets 80 percent of its revenue from Medicare, the government health-insurance plan for the elderly, Bloomberg said.
