The words of Theodore Rousseau offer an insight, “Trees are images of permanence--great history, that which will never change. If I could speak their language, I would be using the tongues of all ages.”

Her encaustic compositions, using a technique which originated in ancient times, become contemporary through her interpretation. She uses a purified bees wax mixed with damar resin as a binder to oil paint on panel. The wax creates a translucent skin which adds both a physical and visual layer to the paintings. The medium veils and also enriches the images we encounter.
