INTC, according to Mr. Sanders, has a higher cost structure and consequently this tactic erodes INTC's financials more than AMD's...

Niceguy, no question that AMD has come a long way in cleaning up its margins. However, Intel is still winning the margin game as of last quarter. Their gross margin was 58% vs AMD's 42%, and their net profit margin was 18% vs AMD's 16%. It could be that Intel is using creative accounting to get these margins, but as it stands Intel has the profit edge according to the accountants.

This is the first time in a very long time that AMD has cash in the bank. Rather than pay for an expensive price war, I would rather see it used more productively. As it stands right now, the market is telling us that Intel is the likely winner in a market share war.
