Jefferson held this view about Christianity:

On March 23, 1801, Thomas Jefferson wrote from Washington D.C. to Moses Robinson.:

“ The Christian Religion, when divested of the rags in which they [the clergy] have enveloped it, and brought to the original purity and simplicity of it’s benevolent institutor, is a religion of all others most friendly to liberty, science, and the freest expression of the human mind”

He had no problem with true Christianity, and in the freedom of faith and worship he even spoke of not letting the legislature make any laws to build a wall of separation BETWEEN Church and State, as recorded in a letter written by him to the Danbury Baptists Assoc. of Dannbury, Conn.
