Oil may be limited but not energy. There is NO reasonable limit to the supply of energy.

Sure there is. There is NO reasonable limit to the POTENTIAL supply of energy. However that brings us back to wishful thinking. If you want to get a feeling for what potential can do to a market...ask a dot com investor:)

The 1000 person town limit is too small of a market size to be comparable.

OK, try the state of California. How should water be rationed in California when the Colorado river water is reduced. We can see that one coming just like we can see the top of the oil supply bell curve. Do we ration water in California based on a free market? There is virtually no limit to the supply of water. Two thirds of the globe is covered with it. If the price is allowed to fluctuate based on free market principles there will always be water....just fire up the desalinaters. Of course the price will be higher but at least we can live with the knowledge that the resource has been allocated and perpetuated using free market principles.
