Sudan: Government denies rebel claim
Text of report by Sudanese radio on 20 August

The rebel movement has claimed that it has captured boats and a ship in Unity State.
The official spokesman of the armed forces has denied these claims, saying that the armed forces do not use such facilities in the oil areas. He stressed that there was no fighting between the armed forces and the outlaws in the region.

During this time of the rebel movement's frustration and continuous defeats, it has gradually started launching attacks on isolated citizens. The rebels attacked fishing boats belonging to the Salma company in the region of Bariboi in Upper Nile State; it is not the case, as claimed by the rebels, that they have captured boats in Unity State.

By making such claims, the rebel movement hopes to boost the flagging morale and spirits of its soldiers.
