Larry Kapitan to Head EMCORE's Electronic Materials Division SOMERSET, N.J., Aug 23, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- EMCORE Corporation (NASDAQ: EMKR chart, msgs - chart, msgs news chart, msgs), a leading provider of semiconductor technologies for global communications, has announced the appointment of Larry Kapitan as Vice President of its Electronics Materials Division, the industry leader in transistor materials for wireless communications.
Formerly Director, MBE Operations at RF Micro Devices, Larry Kapitan brings to EMCORE over 20 years experience in high volume Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) production. Larry Kapitan's other industry experience includes key positions with Alpha Industries, where he established a level of excellence in epitaxy and wafer fabrication. He graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Cumberland College, KY, and was awarded an MS in Physical Chemistry from Purdue University, IN.

The Electronic Materials division was formerly headed by Dr. Craig Farley, who will now be the Company's Vice President of Corporate Operations and Planning, responsible for strategic acquisitions and strategic planning across business units. EMCORE's Electronic Materials Division provides foundry based production of high performance compound semiconductor electronic transistor materials, including pHEMT and HBTs, which are the foundation for high bandwidth communication systems such as Internet access and wireless communications. Recently the Electronic Materials Division reported two significant milestones: the shipment of a record 15,000 6-inch HBT and pHEMT transistor wafers in a 12 month period, and the achievement of QS-9000 certification for its wafer manufacturing activities based on its commitment to quality products and services. |
