Actually neither!!!! UMC is an IC manufacturer so nothing refers to raw silicon. That is the job of WFR or Tasil, among others, that manufacture raw silicon wafers for the IC producers to use in their manufacturing of integrated circuits. 50,000 wafers per month may not reflect finished goods shipped from the plant either.

UMC will probably START 50,000 wafers per month but depending on their cycle time for manufacturing and the line yield for the process, they may actually ship less wafers per month.

Then again, I could be wrong and it really is 50,000 wafers shipped a month. I ned to see the post to be sure but most companies report wafer starts and not wafer outs.<GGG> I had to do it wm. because you probably were convinced one of the above was the correct answer<G>. Had to split the hair with you.<g>

BTW-send your hit man out to bump me off. I have scanned the P-Gild and Ultrabeam stuff but haven't a clue how to post it. I can't seem to past a bitmap and the cut/paste of the "WORD" OCR conversion requires a great deal of massaging. With all the hi tech guys around, one has to be a PC Desktop publishing guru. As an engineer, Show me the spec and I will do it.

Any other company would have gotten a bigger pop on their stock price with this kind of announcement. But NO, UTEK gets panned once more.
