"IMHO, matters of faith are, by definition, not subject to discussion. "

I couldn't agree more, but I feel that if a person brings up a subject (any subject) in a public forum or in a public place where it is being discussed in such a manner that it is not a private conversation, then that topic is open for discussion. I have a genuine interest in understanding why people have their respective religious beliefs, particularly those of very smart people who I feel should be able to explain why they believe the way they do. If a person doesn't want to explain, then one's thoughts should be kept private.
