Why is the boundary between Tennessee and Kentucky so crooked?

It is? Popular myth would have folks believe the surveyors were drunk. However, commissioners from each state decided that as long as they mutually agreed, they would change the state line to accomodate wealthy, influential landowners who had a preference for one state over the other.
