Now now MM, readers here won't know that you are an anti-CDMA, anti-Q! warrior.

I am extremely disappointed that Globalstar didn't make profits. That was a case of total mismanagement in the marketing aspect. They have destroyed $$billions in capital [by way of opportunity cost rather than actual capital destruction though they have also destroyed actual capital of nearly $1bn - expenses going down the gurgler of $120m per quarter and depreciation of the satellites].

However, QUALCOMM is a different story. The fact that they have made not a lot of tax-paid profit is of no concern to me. To make CDMA available to everyone around the world and to make all the services which can be carried on CDMA available to everyone around the world takes a huge amount of investment. The research and development costs are very large. I'm happy for Q! to spend income on development and new ideas because there is a lot needs doing.

That is the same for a lot of companies in the Nasdaq. Companies seeking cancer cures don't make profits for a decade. Internet companies need to develop - they are all new and there is always a lot of investment needed for new ideas and before profits are achieved. But there was a lot of dross too. That dross is being removed. Those who can manage companies and have good ideas will recover and continue to develop the great new world of the 21st century.
