Phil, you make a good case, I would like to go into this more but I'm off to Canada for a few days to help our northern brethren with their balance of payments. I've come around to following only the OEX and QQQ vs the SPX index for my measure of the put-call ratio and current sentiment. Why? It has worked, at least so far. They have been showing optimism. That can change and undoubtedly will. What I do know from the past is that in the decent and longer lasting rallies my put-call ratio invariably swings to the bearish side. In the old days the odd lotters were always wrong, nowadays its the straight options players.
