[DSLs. . .]

Brian --

Your wave metaphor is a clear as they come. Well put. Strange, too, as I was thinking of the tides as a metaphor as I walked the beach last night. You never know which wave that is the exact point of high tide until some time later. You can think you know it, but you have to wait. The same is true of low tides. When will it turn? Well, it always does. . . and Amati's tide has definitely turned and nothing will stop those swells you've described.

Word out of the Bear Stearns Tech conference says Westell's FlexCap is an whooping crane looking for a home. Don't know about HDSL, but I suspect it's more like a Rhode Island Red that won't make it on any flags but sure as heck has a job to do.

<<<AMTX will have its day, but with the new estimates of ADSL deployment in 98 and 99 it will be while yet. IMHO.>>>

I suspect we'll see the first big deployments outside the U.S. --- Canada, HK, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Switzerland --- but remember, for Amati to have impressive numbers it will only take 100 to 150K units the first year and from there on out, it's anyone's guess where they'll go. What's considered "small" to an Alcatel, Motorola, Fujitsu, or Siemens is anything but to a company Amati's size.

<<<I don't see any of these companies dominating nor disappearing from the market place any time soon.>>>

True, but sleep with one eye open. :)

Cheers!

Pat
