The '02 midterm elections might well be a referendum on whether GWB and his team of "let's run government like a business" big-shots are able to come up with a realistic game plan to keep the Dow from falling back down to 8500 and the Naz from dropping to 1300.

The most important factor in any election is the economy. If Joe Q. Public's 401(k) is worth 75 cents on the dollar of what it was worth during Clinton's last year in office, it could be a long night for Repubs 15 months from now.

What disturbed me was watching Sen. Kit Bond, R-Missouri, get on TV the other night and start stammering about how GWB's $600 tax cut was going to turn the economy around. What a bunch of baloney. When asked whether the Repubs would have to raid SS to make their tax cut work, he said, well ... yeah.
